Logitech S715i iPhone Speaker - It's a home run!
Sound:
The S715i sound quality is above average. It has three different sized speakers for a full bodied sound. Great depth and loudness, but can sound a little muddy at higher volumes and depending on the music you’re playing. Great bass for it size and being a portable system.
Design:
The Design is sleek, subtle and strong. The construction is thick and feels good to the touch, not cheap like some of the other portable speakers. The S715i has only the essentials when it comes to buttons: Simple on/off switch with indicator light and a volume control.
The stand doubles as a dock protector so that the 30 pin interface is protected. The 30 pin dock connection is spring loaded to keep your iPod firmly grasped onto the system without the need for dock extensions for different generations of iPods.
It is also very nice to see that Logitech designed the system so that the rechargeable battery can be replaced. Older portable iPhone speaker system did not allow for the replacement of the internal batteries.
Power:
We were very happy to see that the AC power adapter is the standard plug type not like the larger power adapter Logitech used to provide with some of the older models.
Another nice feature is the auto on and off. When the AC adapter is plugged in and you dock your iPhone and hit play the system turns on automatically, then when the music stops and you remove your iPhone the system will turn off after a few minutes. When you are on Battery power and undock your iPhone the systems turns off immediately, saving battery life.
Value:
The Logitech S715i is probably one of the best sounding and constructed portable systems you can get for the money. There are higher end portable speakers, but you will have to pay more for them.
Final Thought
So far, this system sounds great to the ears and felt good to the touch. I don’t worry about dropping it or taking it with me. For this price I would recommend this system over most the competitors for it’s solid design and good sound. It is not the cheapest system available but it is a good value for the money.
