The included Infrared remote control has 18 buttons that has more functions than on the main unit itself. Aside from the standard functions, it can also navigate through iPod / iPhone menus, alarm settings as well as a snooze button. The snooze is programmable with 1-60 seconds intervals. The buttons on top of the unit are backlit by light blue color. The large display screen has also been improved from a black on light blue to a more attractive white on black instead.
For the first time, a new feature called 3D allows impressive faux spatialization that will add more apparent stereo separation into songs along with treble bumps and widening the unit's sound stage.

Can't Go Wrong with the iHome iP9
The iP9 from iHome is one of the best iPod / iPhone Alarm Clocks. Very easy to use, good looks, and excellent sound. It’s predicessor was a top selling iPod Alarm Clock, the iH9. iP9’s main feature is that it works well with iPhone as well as iPod.
Usability
The iP9 is very easy and simple. It’s uses are straightforward. It’s not a premium speaker or home stereo system for your whole living room, but works perfectly as a bedside companion.
The main improvement in this model is it’s ability to block out static from GSM interference, that’s what it means by iPhone compatible. It will also transition nicely if you receive a call.
The Remote is nice for normal use. It easily navigates the menu of the iPod/iPhone. Although, late at night, you may end up pressing a lot of buttons by mistake because they are hard to read in the dark.
Alarm
A great alarm feature built in the iP9 is the 7-5-2 setting. You can set it for weekdays, weekends or both. Hopefully, no more sleep disturbance on Saturday mornings with this feature.
Also, it has dual alarms for 2 different wake-up times. Uses a buzzer, radio, or the iPhone/iPod itself.
Display
The display has large easy to read numbers. bright and clear enough to read at anytime.
There are 5 brightness levels and is easily adjusted. I will typically keep the display bright during the day but then at night I will lower the light level. This is done by tapping the large dimmer/snooze button on top of the unit.
Sound
As was previously mentioned, if your after full-range, top-of-the-line speaker system squeezed into a small alarm clock, you may be slightly disappointed. However, after reviewing several other iPod/iPhone Alarm clocks within this price range and this one the best for what it is. iHome does make a Premium iPod/iPhone Alarm Clock called the iP99. Check it out here.
Construction
The iP9 has a wonderful, solid, sleek construction.
Conclusion
If your are looking for a full featured easy to use iPhone / iPod Alarm Clock the iP9 is one that you should consider. I have tried many of the iPod Alarm Clocks and the iP9 is the one that I use at my house.
